Accredited Level 2 Course in Community Empowerment and Leadership

ECEN's Accredited Level 2 Course in Community Empowerment and Leadership Course is for anyone involved with a voluntary or community organisation based in Enfield.  It consists of 12 weekly sessions.  The course is being delivered by the consultant Ian Beever at Community House, 311 Fore Street, Edmonton N9 0PZ.  The course is being run in partnership with Barnet College and Northern College for Further Education (NCFE), who accredit the course.

The course will enable participants to:

  • Develop their role as a community representative and explore ways they can fulfil this role
  • Research and identify their community's needs
  • Understand different forms of engagement and participation
  • Learn how to present a case effectively and have real influence
  • Understand the policy and structural environment for influence and engagement

Throughout the course participants will build a portfolio of evidence involving written work, researching, presentations and development of a questionnaire.  There will be some compulsory units and participants will also do some work based on their own special interests within Enfield's community empowerment environment.

Participants who successfully complete the course will be awarded a Level 2 Qualification in Community Empowerment and Leadership.  This qualification can be a "stepping stone" to access higher learning or move into employment; or the course can simply be used to build up skills and knowledge.

We normally run two courses a year - one from January to March (spring term) and one from September to December (autumn term).  The spring 2010 course is already underway.  We will be running the course again from September to December 2010.  Booking forms are not yet available, however, please email ecen@ecen.org.uk to express your interest and we will send you a booking form as soon as they are ready.

In the meantime, please click here to download the current course pack, which will give you an idea of what the course covers.
